Having a external battery is a double edged sword as it lasts a long time and can easily replace it when one dies, but it's also a a hinderance because if you don't have a replacement on hand, you're out of luck. The pen isn't rechargeable, instead, it relies on a AAAA battery, which if you're in the USA, isn't easy to find in a store. Kobo claims the screen has a paper-like feel, but it's about halfway to what the Remarkable 2 offers (which is great). Writing itself is smooth and reacts just as smooth. Write to text needs work, the erase function doesn't have finesse, and the responsiveness of menus is slow. It's nowhere near what something like the Remarkable 2 can do (my wife has one), but it gets the job done. The case doubles the weight of the device bordering on tripling it.
